Kuala Lumpur; A Brief Overview
Kuala Lumpur is the capital of Malaysia. One of its major landmarks is the Petronas Twin Towers. They were the tallest buildings in the world from 1998 to 2004. However, they are still the tallest twin buildings in the world. The Strait of Malacca is located in Kuala Lumpur. It is one of the most important shipping lanes in the world. A lot of the world's traded goods, including oil, Indonesian coffee, and Chinese goods are imported through the Strait of Malacca. In 2011, about 60,000 vessels went through the Strait of Malacca carrying about one quarter of the world's traded goods. Kuala Lumpur has many important landmarks, although it didn't become the capital of Malaysia until 1963.
